after the events of season 4, steve just wanting SO BADLY to be friends with eddie. just LOVING the idea of them getting closer and having eddie as a friend because hell yeah! a close male friendship with someone that is actually my age, and who i don’t have a weird history with involving bruised eyes and love triangles? count me IN! and eddie is FUN, he is actually hilarious! the way they share the same glances of understanding when dustin is being an absolute shit head, rambling on and on about some obscure topic, expecting everyone to always be on the exact same page as him. of course. and, although steve suspects that eddie actually probably is keeping up with everything dustin says, much better than he ever could, he knows that above it all eddie can appreciate the antics for what they are, and roll his eyes with steve at dustin, i concur, you dustin henderson, are a total butthead.
steve just about junps RIGHT IN to being friends with eddie. hey man, what’cha up to tonight? wanna watch a movie? get drunk, smoke a bit? hey eddie, how have you been, man? he starts calling eddie up on the phone regularly just to check in, shoot the shit, he loves it! he loves having this new friendship with eddie munson and he loves how much the other boy has surprised him with how much he actually enjoys being around him. he’s not a freak, really, well ok maybe he is a little bit, but only in the best ways. he’s kind, thoughtful, and is always looking out for the people he cares about, which is something steve can really respect in a dude. but he’s also so funny? steve never could’ve anticipated just how much eddie has managed to make him genuinely LAUGH over their short amount of time spent together. and he’s really, out there? with the way he presents himself, the way he takes up space with these big THEATRICAL movements, leaving no room for regret or shame or god forbid embarrassment. steve isn’t even sure munson is capable of feeling it at all.
eddie munson is a good dude, and steve could use a bit more of that kind of person around him. he loves all of his friends, the weird little bonded family he’s found himself apart of, and they are all good people, but it never hurts to have afew more added in here and there. it never hurts to know there are more good people out there to find.
so steve is all over eddie, it seems.
at least, from where eddie is standing. nobody else seems as phased as eddie does at this sudden change in steve’s demeanour, in his interest in what eddie munson spends his time doing these days. it seems like, to everyone else, to steve, it’s just a natural progression in their relationship, after being sort of role model figures to the same group of kids, both being the two single dudes, who fought the same monsters together last spring, it seems nobody questions too much that they’d start casually hanging around eachother more. especially since eddie has found himself to fit into his own special spot as one of the group now after it all, after he unwillingly became tangled in this whole upsidedown-superpowers-supernatural-monsters and demons debacle, and tangled quite dramatically at that, the rest of the group that’s been with this since the beginning seemed to find no trouble in taking him in and seeing him as “one of them” now.
so, steve asking eddie to smoke, to watch movies, to go for a drive with no real end destination, it’s not really something that earns them too many double takes. dustin makes a comment or two in the beginning, because steve since when did you like hanging out with eddie? you guys are like so opposite, you don’t like any of the same stuff he does? and steve barely gives a shrug and a dismissive yeah yeah whatever man in response, with a signature eye roll, and dustin had said it seemingly also not too seriously, poking fun at steve wherever he can, not really meaning anything by it, as he fidgets around and rambles in the backseat of steve’s car, eddie riding up front. after that, though, he’s dropped it. it’s never brought up again. part of eddie thinks, too, that dustin would actually be enjoying that his two older friends are becoming friends themselves.
robin seems to be the only other person to look a bit harder at their situation, lingering stares at their interactions, all squinted eyes and eyebrows raised, though from her all this seems to be almost always and only ever directed at steve. eddie’s not sure what to make of that. isn’t he the weird one? i mean, he’s the one that stands out, right? he’s the odd denominator that makes their friendship strange. why would steve harrington want to hang out with Him? HIM? but robin doesn’t spend her time studying eddie to try and search for what about him could possibly have piqued the interest of cherished steven harrington, no, shes always looking at steve. like she’s seeing him differently, almost. eddie doesn’t even think that steve notices it, either, because he doesn’t seem to be questioning or doubting anything odd or strange or out of the ordinary with their newfound time spent together. and maybe, maybe robin is seeing him differently. eddie knows he definitely has been. seeing him more, intensely. deeply. human. seeing the person that steve is, as just steve, not this idealised version of a boy that eddies starting to question ever really even existed at all, or if everyone around him just needed to believe that he did, and who was steve if not happy to comply to the wants of the people around him for who he should be?
eddie likes having steve as his friend, too. don’t get it twisted. he loves how unexpectedly expressive steve is about everything, even really small things. steve LOVES to raise his voice, rest a hand on his popped hip, scolding the kids for something stupid with no real heat or malice behind it. and steve is, like, kinda bitchy too. eddie knew he had the capacity to be a real asshole when he wanted to be, that’s all he knew steve for back in the day, when he was back in high school, hanging around tommy h and the basketball boys, the jocks. eddie would spend his days hearing only whispers and gossip in the hallways of the parties at king steve’s house and the fights king steve had started and won on the court or out in the fields, only ever getting as close as a shove into a locker with the guy at the time, but eddie knew how it could go. he knew all about what steve had done to jonathan, what he’d said to him, the words he’d used. eddie knew it all. he’d seen enough, and been through enough himself, to know how these guys acted in response to guys like him, like jonathan, people who were lower on the social food chain. so, eddie knew about steve’s “mean streak”, if you will, but this kind of snarky bitchiness was something new to him. harrington was almost, sassy, when he wanted to be. it was less so cruel and more just, just sass. if he’s being completely honest it kind of blew eddie away, at first. he thought steve was one of those dull headed jocks who thought with their fists more than their actual brains, but that couldn’t have been farther from the truth. steve’s insults were well thought out, they were FUNNY, he was smart with his words. and silly. oh my god steve harrington could be so fucking silly, real honest to god goofball when the moment called for it, when he felt comfortable enough. eddie had caught on multiple occasions steve mimicking lightsabers to play fight with dustin, or the stupid fucking shit he would do or say just to make robin laugh, singing along to a song playing on the radio with a funny voice.
it was all a little, intoxicating, to watch. eddie didn’t know what gave him the right to be in on this now, to get to see this side of steve and better yet to be at the other end of some of his best qualities. it was fun, all the time they spent together, but there was always something else tugging inside eddie everytime they spent close time together, too. something, he knew steve wasn’t aware of. something he knew steve wasn’t equipped to deal with. something he knew, was him. was him, making things something more than they should be, because, nobody seemed to be questioning that they could become friends, so why ruin that? why disrupt it?
- robin and steve
“Steve.”
“-but then like, it wasn’t that I didn’t want to watch it I just thought, hey, y’know, let’s try something different for a change, but then he- oh my god he honest to god TACKLED ME Robin — I mean, it was so fucking funny and it happened so quick — and all over a fucking Tom Cruise movie-“
“STEVE.” Robin lightly slammed a hand onto the counter. She had been standing behind it for no short of 20 minutes, watching Steve as he paced around, supposed to be stacking tapes onto shelves, but ended up spending the whole time going on and on, and ON, about how movie night went with Eddie last night. She thought she was bad…
Steve jumped, almost running into a shelf and knocking down his hard work, and seemed to snap out of whatever trance he had found himself in after starting to tell Robin a story about something funny Eddie had done last night.
“Shit, sorry. Sorry, what were you saying? Were you- were you saying something?”
To this, Robin just rolls her eyes and let’s out a laugh, “You, sir, are goddamn hopeless.”
“Sorry. How long was I talking for?” Steve wandered his way over to lean his arms onto the counter from the opposite side.
“Oh, I dunno Steve, just about half an HOUR?”
“That is an over exaggeration Robin, it’s only been like-“
“Honestly, man, i’m concerned for you. You are like next level OBSESSED with Eddie. Eddie Munson. You do realise this right??? You are obsessed with him, Steve.”
To this Steve sputters, lazily waving his hands back and forth.
“No, Robin, what the hell are you talking about? I am not OBSESSED. No need to be jealous, alright, Stevie-Boy here can have more than one friend. Your spot in my heart isn’t any less special now that it’s beginning to be shared by another.” He bats his eyelashes up at her, holding both hands over his chest as if to cradle his heart.
“Oh my GOD! You even SOUND LIKE HIM!”, she playfully slaps his shoulder. “Steve. You are obsessed.”
“I am not obsessed! He’s just a really great guy, alright-“
“Blah blah, yep whatever you say, lover boy.” Robin quips, plopping down onto the chair chair infront of their staff computer, turning herself to face it.
“Wha- what? Lover boy? What the hell Robin, that is not- that doesn’t even make any sense!”
She is just smiling at him now, enjoying seeing him spiral like this. Steve let’s out a sigh as he puts his hands on his hips, and shakes his head, looking at her right back.
He opens and closes his mouth afew times, like he’s really thinking about what he wants to say next. Or like he has no idea what to say next, and his brain is not moving fast enough to formulate the next sentence his mouth knows he wants to say. He wasn’t obsessed. That’s not- that’s like- no. No he was not, Robin was just playing around with him, she knew how to get on his nerves. Get him all wound up over little things just to see him react like this.
After a minute or two, Robin realises Steve was not going to reply anytime soon, so she turns fully back toward him. Saving him from his spiral.
“So, what are you’re plans for tonight Steve-O?”
He lets out a chuckle and walks around the counter till he’s behind it with Robin, leaning his back against it so he can stand across from her and face her.
“Well, not really sure. Parents aren’t home, no early shift tomorrow, might drink afew beers, listen to some music, —“
“See what Eddie’s doin?” Robin finishes for him, quirking her eyebrows up and down as she does it.
“Oh shut up!” Steve just laughs and softly throws a tape from the counter at her chest. “As a matter of fact, yeah I will see what he’s up to. Because we are friends now, Robin. Is that a problem? Actually I was also gonna ask you what you were up to after work, too, but you know what after this I’m having second thoughts, I mean, the way you’ve been treating me lately-“
“Oh my god, you are the worst. Yes, I’m free, of course I’ll hang out with you dingus. You and your tweedle dee.”
Steve laughs at this, then tilts his head.
“Wait, does that make me dumb? Tweedle dumb?! That’s how you see me?”
“Yeah it is actually, got a problem?”
“Oh wow, she’s feisty today. Can’t believe you think I’m dumb, Rob’s. When you come knockin’ tonight, do not expect a warm greeting at my front door.”
“Yeah, yeah, I’ll take my chances.”
- later. steve’s house. to be continued?

*thinking about the villains' tragic fates*
You know, their routes never really talk too much about their fates and how it effects them mentally. Or how the MC feels about it, and dealing with the fear and angst of it with the slight exception of William's route
*eyes widen*
... I think I know what the sequels are gonna be about
#I am scared both because it will be angsty and because they might not do this and mess up the sequels#from what I can tell Ikemen sequels can be pretty hard to do right#partly because the playerbase has over a year to imagine their own post-route and get attached to that#and because added onto an already finished story can be difficult without potentially accidentally undoing the efforts of the characters#I haven't read a lot of ikemen sequels so I could be wrong#but Ikevil doesn’t have this problem so much because it feels like there are some loose threads left with their relationship and character#not enough that it leaves you unsatisfied but enough that you could definitely expand upon it#I guess the tricky thing then would be expanding upon it in a way that people like#but for me I noticed some of the routes don't feel like one full finished story in terms of their relationship#it feels like the beginning of something#specifically I get that feeling for Liam's and Harrison's route#like the story ends with them getting together because we spent the whole story getting to know each other and learning their backstory#but it still feels like there's stuff to untangle and figure out in a relationship with them#I just hope that some of the sequels will be more slow paced#and whatever Crown mission going on is only meant to enhance the character journey like in Elbert's route#instead of being the main source of drama#but it could depend with the character and what type of story a sequel for them would be best for#like William's sequel being more action-packed and stakes while Liam's is more soft#I feel like that would fit them#thank you for coming to my ted talk#...in the tags#ikevil#ikemen villains#ikemen series

So, @roseofcards90 said that Stark from Frieren looks like a 0309 fankid, and me loving Frieren + her encouraging me, i made some headcanons for it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For those who dont know the character, his name is Stark, he is kind, silly, a people pleaser, in general he is a good boy, he is strong, a warrior and fights with a big axe. (Frieren is set in a fantasy world)
Stark + 0309 (probably platonic? not the main focus) found family
Warnings: SPOILERS FOR STARK'S BACKSTORY ON FRIEREN, not proof read
Like on the anime, Stark grew up on the shadow of his brother, always training, but without ever getting any recognition or support from his father. His brother on the other side, would always make space for him he was who taught him what kindness and love felt like, always caring for him, always watching over him, till his last breath
After their village got attacked and Stark had to run away, leaving behind everyone he ever knew, believing himself a coward that could never improve, he came across two adventurers
Seeing the red hair of one of them, which reminded him of his family and other people from the village, he felt shame, fear and immense guilt for having left everyone behind for his own survival (HE IS STILL A KID GUYS)
Mikoto and Fuuta stared at the random kid confused, and when Mikoto noticed that he was about to cry, he kneeled down and tried to talk with him, to make sure he was okay
Fuuta was also worried about the kid, but he has never been good with words or feelings, so he just asked where the kid was from and Stark began to cry, which made Fuuta panic and take a couple steps away from them, leaving the work to Mikoto
Mikoto eventually managed to comfort him and learnt about the tragedy that struck his village. Knowing Fuuta and him wouldnt have what it takes to save the village, and also knowing that he cant leave a child alone, Mikoto decided to offer Stark to join them on their travels, Fuuta was prepared to refute, but when he saw Stark’s face full of fear and guilt, he couldnt help but see a bit of himself on the kid
Mikoto’s plan was to bring Stark with them for a while and then leave him in an orphanage or somewhere that would be safe for him, so he wouldnt have to grow up traveling, and so he could grow up in a nice home
But he didnt take into account of the small group growing attached to each other
Fuuta quickly noticed Stark’s true potential as a warrior, and with a bit of excitement of teaching someone something he loves he asked if he would like him to train him. Stark was scared, remembering how it was to be trained by his father, but agreed, wanting to make himself useful
Stark was terrified, he couldnt bring himself to fight any monsters, even the easiest ones to kill, and Fuuta was starting to grow frustrated with that, but whenever he was about to raise his voice, he would see Stark’s face full of horror, so he would just sigh loudly, kneel beside him and try his best to convince him to try it
It was certainly a learning experience for Fuuta, having to learn basic communication skills
One time, they were on a small town, Mikoto was always in charge of gathering information from the town folk, while Fuuta would take care of buying the supplies for their journey. Stark had grown up a bit and most of the time would stick with Mikoto. But this time he went with Fuuta, they split the list of what they needed and got to work each on their own. After a while he heard a loud noise coming from the forest, doing a quick scan on the area he noticed the people from the town appeared worried and scared, and he assumed it was a monster attacking. He was TERRIFIED, he was about to run to look for Fuuta when he heard someone say that “the adventurer with the silly face went to check on the river bank” which made his heart drop (and the supplies he had bought). Even as terrified as he was, his legs moved on his own and he ran towards the place where he heard the loud noise.
When he arrived he found Mikoto unconscious on the floor and a monster about to eat him, Stark stared at the monster, paralyzed, not knowing what to do, his hands were shaking and he felt like his heart would beat out of his chest. Stark and the monster stared at each other for what felt like an eternity, until the monster launched its attack. Stark quickly drew his axe and defended himself. As they fought, Stark screamed for help, hoping anyone would come to their aid
On the other side of the town, Fuuta heard the first loud noise, and soon after heard more and more loud noises, making him worry about his team, he quickly searched the town, and not finding them he assumed the worst. He ran as quickly as he could, ready to unveil his sword and save his comrades, he kept hearing Stark’s cries for help, but when he finally arrived to the scene, he found Stark, still calling for help, with his axe on the monster’s neck as the monster was slowly disintegrating
Fuuta felt extremely proud of him, and after checking up on Mikoto, he congratulated Stark, which made Stark surprised, not having ever received that treatment from someone else
when they came back to the town, the people received them with cheers and gratefulness, apparently they had been struggling with that monster for a while and they will be able to go back to their normal activities now
After that, Mikoto keeps telling Stark how strong he is, he keeps wrapping an arm around his neck like an affectionate brother, Stark feels slightly embarrassed by this, but cant help but feel happiness. Fuuta just answers with “he is but he needs to keep training” to which Stark nods his head

Easier to Think of Leaving
The first thing Sanji said that morning was “I thought about leaving you last night.” The metallic click of the lighter bounced off the walls.
The first thing Zoro said back was “So why didn't you?”
Zoro thought about keeping his eye closed, of convincing himself this was one of those hazy conversations he only ever had nightmares about. But he could feel the sun on his face, sneaking through the curtains Sanji never fully closed. He liked to be able to twitch them open in the middle of the night to blow out streams of blue smoke instead of going downstairs.
5:43 in the morning.
Not terribly early for either of them. Late, actually, for Sanji.
The room smelled like smoke. Tasted like smoke. It was the lighter that woke him. Must have been. It was heavy, and loud when the flint struck. Sanji preferred matches for his quick midnight smokes. They had matchbooks everywhere. Stolen from every place they’d ever been.
Either he’d been awake and stewing for hours or never went to bed at all.
Yawning widely, Zoro smacked his lips together and heaved himself up to sit against the headboard and scratch at his stomach. Usually their room smelled and tasted like ocean salt.
Chair by the window. Arms folded on the small table he used to roll his smokes on good nights. A half smoked cig hanging loose from his fingers. Sanji’s hair was still braided, and frizzing at the ends. Bitched about split ends but still picked at them anytime he ran circles around his own thoughts. Zoro snorted. Hadn’t been to bed yet, then.
Hissing a breath out through his teeth, Sanji stabbed out his cigarette in the butt-filled ash tray. No wonder the fucking room stank. “I can’t stand the idea of you dying alone.”
“I wouldn’t die alone, asshole.” Zoro grit his teeth on the words. They weren’t what he meant to say, not a smart response to your partner telling you the one reason they didn’t leave in the middle of the god damned night.
Sanji was better at being in a relationship, despite being much worse at getting to the relationship part. But he did the right things. He remembered birthdays and anniversaries. He got thoughtful gifts. He didn’t go to bed angry. He could say things like ‘i should leave you.’
Zoro never barely remembered the days of the week. He thought it was stupid to stay up and be miserable for no fucking reason. He wasn’t good with words.
Sanji liked to remind him that he stuttered on his wedding vows.
Usually he said it while laughing.
Last night he spat it out like a curse.
“I know that,” Sanji said, muffled. He dropped his head into his hands and ground his eyes into the heels of his palms.
“You couldn’t stand that I might die without your hands around my throat, more like.”
That got a husked out a laugh. “It was easier to think about leaving when you were asleep.”
“Why.”
“Why was it easier or why did I want to?”
Zoro shrugged, grunting rather than making a choice. There was something Vivi liked to say, how not making a choice was still making a choice. Some shit like that. But when choosing between getting stabbing in the hand vs. getting stabbed in the foot - its not like choosing one over the other was going to save anything. It was going to hurt either way.
The heater in their place was old, and took a while to warm up in the morning. It was the work of seconds to fill a glass with frigid water. Zoro chugged half to rid his mouth of sour sleep and second hand smoke. He passed Sanji the glass on his way back to bed, and bit back some relief when it was immediately pressed to Sanji’s neck, the cold raising goose bumps on his skin.
He shuddered through deep breaths for a minute, while Zoro waited for the hammer to fall.
“We talked about taking a trip out east last fall and it never happened.”
“You had that shitty legal battle with those fuckers. Wasn’t a good time.”
They aren’t like that normally. They don’t say shit they don’t mean, or back off from shit they say they’ll do. It’s about the only reason they started to date in the first place. It was a bet, a joke, and then a competition, like they were seeing who’d bow out first. And then it was comforting, to be with someone like that. Someone sure.
The lighter clicked again. Sanji drank the water and then rested the glass upside down over the lighter.
On another day, Zoro might pick a fight about water rings on the table. Something that was fine when Sanji did it, but caused a shake down fight whenever he forgot a coaster.
“You let our fucking plant die.”
There it was.
The plant was older than their marriage and had vines longer than Zoro’s whole body.
They’d been given the plant as a joke, from Nami, when they moved in together. When Sanji ducked into the kitchen, she bet Beri that they’d break up before Zoro managed to kill the thing. “It’s like you,” she snorted. “It thrives on neglect.”
Zoro yelled at her and she yelled back, and Sanji yelled at him for yelling at Nami, and Luffy yelled at all of them for fighting during a party. Later on she bought him a good bottle of whisky and they drank it under the stars. Zoro didn’t remember what they talked about, only that Nami said sorry and threw up immediately after.
“You said I was watering it too much,” Zoro said. “So I stopped.”
“Do you even fucking care?” Sanji’s open palm hit the table and a second later the glass hit the floor.
“Don’t move.” Zoro was out of bed and getting the broom from the hallway before Sanji could think about being a contrary little shit. “Was this one of the nice glasses Vivi got us?” Zoro had met the glass blower at one of Vivi’s Alabastan Independence Day dinners, they talked about working with fire and the art of creating dangerous things.
Zoro commissioned her for a set of measuring cups. It had been the only glass kitchen tool he could think of, and she laughed herself sick but promised to have it done by their next anniversary.
“No, I don’t put the nice glass in the fucking en suite, you animal.”
It was hard to tell, all smashed to bits, so Zoro shrugged.
“It was the one Chopper got us at the Bargain Bin.”
“Well, fuck.” Zoro paused, frowning. On one hand, Chopper probably won’t remember getting this specific glass for them. Chopper was always buying things that made him think of their crew. But Zoro liked it. That’s how it became the en suite glass in the first place. He didn’t get the joke on it, a stylized katana with the half the slogan chipped off. Something about having god on your side. But Usopp had assured him it was just dumb and funny.
“Sure. You care about that, you dumb piece of sentient fucking moss. You care you broke the 2 Beri glass Chopper got for a laugh -”
“If it’s green, there’s something worth saving.”
For a moment, the bin rattling as the glass settled at the bottom was the only sound in the room. Then Sanji drawled, slow and deliberate. The same way he exhaled smoke. “Is that your idea of a fucking joke?”
Sanji’s anger was like a wave. It swelled and rushed. But the real danger was when the tide went out. When he seemed calm, but really, the tsunami was about to hit.
“I messaged Robin yesterday, before you came in.” Playing with fire, Zoro hazarded over a grin. “She said if it’s still green, there’s something to save.”
There was. The leaves along the vine were yellowing and falling off so fast it made Zoro panic. There were dark, mushy roots peeking out the bottom of the pot. But the vine itself was still green. Sanji went out like one of his matches, the fight draining out of him. He took a heavy step, then two, and finally sank down onto the bed.
“Lighter?”
“I forgot how hard it is to light smokes this early. Everything feels wet,” Sanji muttered into the bedspread.
Humming, Zoro flopped down beside him, leaving the broom and pan where they were for now. They’d have to clean up better later anyway, make sure no glass was hiding. “Still want to leave me?”
He hadn’t meant to say that. Zoro squeezed his eye shut and thought for a second about biting his tongue in two. Slow death vs. a slow death. Hand or foot.
“Not right now,” Sanji sighed. The nicotine jitters were leaving him shaky and strung out, like always. The water must have helped a bit, though. “Divorces are messy. I should have made you sign a prenup.”
Zoro nodded. Should’ve, would’ve. Too late now. “Good. You can yell at me more after you get some fucking sleep.”
“I wasn’t yelling.”
“Felt like yelling.”
They rolled about getting comfortable. Sanji wiggling out of his day-old clothes, still smelling like cooking oil and old sweat and smoke. “Robin-dear really thinks?”
Daring, Zoro laid an arm out, offering. “She coming over tomorrow, bring Usopp and Franky. They asked when we last re-potted it.”
“What is ‘re-potting’?”
For a second, Sanji was tense and still. For all it was one of Sanji’s favourite threats, Zoro had never actually slept in the guest room, and he wondered for a second if that was about to change. Then, Sanji hitched his body back, squirming til his back lay flushed against Zoro’s side.
“That’s what I said.”
Sanji snorted. “Go to bed. I can just as easily kill you when we wake up.”
“You can try,” Zoro muttered, hooking his arm down til his hand lay flat against Sanji’s heart.

the latin verb "ardere", "to burn, to be on fire" also meaning "to desire" is so . i love people, i love classics, and i love seeing the ways in which people of the past perceived and experienced certain emotions

Forever fighting- Rinzler, Alan and Tron’s return
Tumblr media
There’s a lot of interesting takes on Rinzler out there, here’s mine.
I can’t fully accept the idea of Tron being Rinzler forever. Both because my heart couldn’t take it and that’s just not who Tron is. People forget how he’s such a force of pure good and virtually unable to give up.
As wonderfully tragic as Rinzler is as a concept you can’t tell me he wasn’t fighting every solitary second of the reprogramming, of the virus, the brainwashing, all of it. You can do all of this to him and you can make him forget who he is on the surface but you cannot stop his desire to do good- you can’t keep him from fighting - especially after making him a weapon. (Something done by both Sark and Clu)
The idea hadn’t originated by me but his should is not only by the damage but from this subconscious battle. Clawing his way back to the surface. That’s why he’s in the games or on a task or guarding because any god damn second you leave him on his own Tron is going to try to break free. Distract, fight, kill, no rest.
I sort of love the scene in the sea because of this, Flynn fundamentally breaking something in his new coding enough for him to fight clu and his color returning to neutral in the sea. JUMPED at the opportunity to break out the minute he gets it. I don’t think he had fully, I see it more as punching his hand through the shell. There’s a crack in the armor but he’s not wholly free.
Tumblr media
While I don’t believe Rinzler is a separate person from Tron- as it’s still him at the end of the day just… hurt. (there was a post awhile back comparing him to a werewolf I agree with) I also don’t think he’d just magically be himself again with no problems.
He’s going to be fighting Rinzler (himself) for the rest of his existence. It is going to haunt him for a long long time. These things he did. Horrible things he can’t fully remember, programs missing he’s sure he had a part in. It’s complicated. I really think it was a flash bang of regaining consciousness .
Tumblr media
Legacy doesn’t really do the mirroring that 82’ does however I’d argue that Rinzler can also mirror Alan in this case!! Alan had been on the board for a long time, he’s never officially out of the company he’s just been silenced. He quips here and there but he has to control himself or otherwise he is out like that. It seems like he’s caught in just as much a leash as Rinzler, and he’s fighting it too. His funding of Flynn lives, his activity in forums, his constant attempts to reel sam in — this man is out of his mind trying to restore some kind of morality to the company. Justice -> really is a driving force and connected thing between him and Tron.
By the end of the film he’s freed in a similar way, he’s the head now and can speak a bit more freely. He’s learning to grief and repairing his relationship with Sam and Roy just as Rinz is supposedly free.
I just- again “pure hero” isn’t just a title projected onto Tron it’s textually true especially in the world of the first film.
This became more about Tron than Rinzler as his own entity but the point still stands. I talk about the dynamic more in a older post where Rinzler really gives me attack dog vibes and I didn’t want to rehash that, instead giving a new perspective. And talking about a connection I don’t think anyone’s talked about (or I’m stretching)

just a heads up:
i am going back to college! and so i am likely to be busy. i haven't been super active here outside of reblogs because i have been sort of Going Through It and with my classes this semester it's likely i will still not have a lot of time/energy to invest in stuff like gif or stimboard making. im still going to keep the rb queue going as best i can, and ill certainly still be posting when i can because i enjoy running this blog, just know that I'm not likely to reopen requests any time soon, and if i do itd be more like suggestions than requests because i can't guarantee I'll be able to follow through, and if i ever disappear for a while it's because i am busy. i know i don't necessarily need to explain myself, but i didn't want anyone to worry 🌟 i enjoy doing stuff here a lot and it can be a good way to destress, but i also find i'm such a perfectionist with boards it takes a lot more time/energy than I'm always willing to put in, and even making and uploading gifs can be difficult because of my shitty Internet connection at my house.
tldr im gonna be Busy but i still will be here even if im not posting super regularly

i played the remastered alan wake a while back and am replaying the original on steam, and, honestly, they’re so similar, I couldn’t tell which is which if you held up comparisons. ive come across reviews about the game looking outdated and bad (mostly compared to other releases in that time), but the original looks great and I like the hazy dark lighting for both this and awan
#might delete#I can’t wait to run into all the product placements#like yeah I know it’s not. top graphics of that year. but I’ve stopped and looked at the environment So many times. it’s pretty!#this is because im biased but I *loved* AWANs choice of scenery. although I wish it was as detailed and expansive as the original games#all of remedy’s games do pretty great in terms of the environment. ignore controls terrible map and the Oldest House is an incredible space#to navigate just by following signs and all the little details. the atmosphere!#don’t even need to explain how aw2 is good with that#but even Max Payne 1 has this beautiful eerie quality where everything is this fever dream of grungy or old environments#even before the literal nightmare sequence it felt like navigating a dream of this Not New York City. like of course it’s likely born from#the limitations the developers had when making it. but the emptiness and placement of npcs added to the experience#QB so far is my least favorite in its style and environment but it’s still had some good moments. the use of flashbacks + time overlapping#onto abandoned and destroyed environments was genius. the college campus itself and the train(?) cargo(?) area was neat to go through#there’s some really good stuff there! *im also. not done with QB so im still hoping things get more wild!!#im honestly more forgiving of QB as a whole and find it interesting since it went through a lot of hell in its development#this might seem negative but it’s not! it’s a shockingly beautiful game. graphics exceed expectations#the style and some locations is where it’s more boring for me. but still good. im so tempted to buy it on steam to finally finish it#endless apologies if u opened this and ur entire page opened up an essays worth of tags
